Oh Hi!
I have a new obsession. Totally and deeply obsessed.
2 weeks ago I found out about a dance called Lindy Hop (swing dancing). My first dance class which was on Tuesday evening was booked before I could even say the words!
Now I'm hooked. I've been wanting to do normal things and then I get distracted by the thought of Lindy Hop and start practicing my steps and counting, then I get all excited and look for some Lindy Hop classes to go and then realise my last tenner was spent on the Tuesday's lesson. Waiting for payday has never been so exciting!
There's a new class by Swing Patrol starting on 6th June in Crouch End which I am going to instead of the one at Holborn because it will be much nicer to start a place where I know everyone from the start and can learn with the class. There is so much to say about Lindy Hop, it's all just swimming around in my head! However, it's a partner dance and Marco can't do it with me as he works too much.. :( I have been discovering that having the same partner for dances is something that only really matters in performances and shows because in social dance situations, everyone dances with everyone!
The whole feel of the dance and the atmosphere is just what I have been searching for in an interest that keeps me active and fit. I have the W.I and Lindy Hop in my out of work life and that makes me so happy about the variety of my life right now! Of course, there are other things but right now lets talk about Lindy Hop! London has a massive scene so I won't be short of places to dance!
I did not live up to my promise of posting more Prince Charles photos and have really had some lovely and excited comments about my weekend, thank you. If you'd like to take a peek at some more photos I have them up on my flickr!
But, for now, take a look at what I'd love to Lindy Hop like. They have amazing skills..
O_o
Me and my fella went to lindy hop classes last year! We both loved it, but it's on a Tuesday night which clashes with my knitting group and what with the boyfriend's dissertation, we haven't been in months! But if we get drunk enough we'll bust out a couple of moves if we happen to be on a dancefloor ;)
