Thrift Pledge ish

It's hard to not blog about things when they first happen, especially when it's a gift!  I get so excited about giving gifts, not so much about receiving them (I get nervous), but giving something is very fun!

I have a friend called Marianne, she is a maker of wonderful velvet birds when she isn't singing in her band Hot Feet.  So, when I saw this mechanical singing bird in a cage in my local Charity Shop... Oh, how I spread my wings and flew it home with me!

Marianne has the gift now, and she seemed nice and happy!  And I am too, so I can share it as part of my tailor-made version of the Thrift Pledge that Van from Thrift Core blog has highlighted for 2011.  I have always made charity shops part of my shopping trips and have been lucky enough to have a Mum who taught me that there is always gold in that pile of junk and a good chat can mean a great bargain!
I am not brave enough to buy second hand goods for a whole year, and living in London, it's often cheaper to buy new on things like basic clothing etc as the charity shops are so much more expensive than other towns and cities I have lived in.  That would seem like a small excuse, but I am trying to adapt the pledge to my own needs and wants and this present is kicking it off!

It's a small cage with the diameter about the same as a saucer, there is a wind underneath, and when it's wound, the bird moves and a bird song is played.  The little door at the front lifts and you can stroke the bird! It's really cute!

If you would like to read the Thrift Core blog, I say click click click below!

And click here to go and listen to Hot Feet, they are wonderful.
